Managing Sites

The Sites Management module provides an interface for manipulating all sites registered in your ColdBricks instance. Additionally, it also provides access to the Create Site and Register Site features. For administrator users this screen is accessed from the Administration Dashboard. Non-administrator users that have been granted access to more than one site will see this screen as soon as they login into ColdBricks.

When accessing the Sites Management screen you will see a listing of all available sites. The following chart describes the available actions for each site:

Reset Site. Use this icon to force a reset of the corresponding site. Resetting a site forces a reload of all configuration settings for that particular site, also it allows HomePortals to detect any new entries added to the resource library for that site. Resetting a site does not affect the current sessions on the site.
Open Site. Clicking on this icon will load the Site Dashboard for the respective site. The Site Dashboard is the entry point for all management and editing tasks on a site.
Delete Site. Use this option to completely delete a site and its contents. THIS ACTION IS NOT REVERSIBLE. Also, if the site directory and files have already been deleted from outside ColdBricks, you can use this button to remove the Site from ColdBricks data files.

IMPORTANT: You cannot delete a site if it has been deployed to the domain root. (i.e. its relative path is '/' )
Download Archive of Site: This feature allows you to download a compressed archive of the entire site. Depending on the size, this operation may take some time to complete. Use this feature for archiving, backup or migration of a site. The archive will include all contents within the site directory, that means that if a site depends on some resource that is outside the site directory, then this external resource will not be included in the archive.

Besides these options you can click on the site name to open the corresponding Site Dashboard, and click on the site URL to open the site on a new browser window.

Additionally, you will find buttons on this screen for creating a new site and registering an existing site. See section 3.2 for more information about creating a new site, and section 3.3 for information about registering an existing site.

User Types and Sites Management

In ColdBricks, users can be either regular users or administrator users. The difference is that regular users do not have access to the Administration Dashboard, server settings screen and can be restricted to have access to only specific sites. On the other hand, administrator users have unrestricted access to all sections of the application and can manage all registered sites.

If the current user is not an administrator the Sites Management screen only displays the sites that have been assigned to the current user. Furthermore, if the user has been assigned to only one site, then the Sites Management screen is not displayed and the user is taken directly to the Site Dashboard after login.
